We are pleased to share that several Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) participated by ALTERNATIVE in Armenia, Moldova, Romania, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan have recently undergone a comprehensive  impact assessment by 60 Decibels.

This assessment is important as it helps us understand the impact of our services on the communities we serve, guiding our future strategies for improvement. In the following link you can read the full Impact Report.

Key Findings of the assessment include the following:

• 44% of our end-borrowers accessed a loan for the first time.
• 75% reported an increase in income after obtaining a loan.
• 80% experienced an overall improvement in their quality of life.
• 47% noted increased spending on home improvements.
• 97% appreciated the fairness and respectfulness of our employees.
• Only 5% faced challenges with Mikro Kapital.

We are happy that the report confirms that most of our end-borrowers are satisfied with the service and impact it produces.

During the assessment, we identified gaps, including staff dissatisfaction, lack of understanding of loan terms, and challenges with digital and financial literacy.

We have addressed these issues with local CEOs and we are working collaboratively on improvement plans.
